Fountain at Night

This was an experiment in night photography without a tripod. This was shot with no flash, by hand. I’m actually quite impressed by the image stabilization feature of the kit lens on my camera, it allowed me to have the shutter open long enough to blur the water, as well as keeping the lower part of the fountain itself in focus.

The sunset is actually far to the right of this picture, but the sky is going through it’s funky coloring.

I really like the pinkish sky offsetting the ship.

Sunset photo taken from the top of the parking structure at work. This is the one good side effect of pollution, the colors of the sunsets out here tend to be pretty amazing.

Sunset Over Culver City

I finally managed to get some decent photos of the sunset from work. I’ll be shooting more of these once I have access to a tripod because the higher ISO speeds needed to be able to shoot in this light caused the shutter speed to be dangerously close to being too long to hold without one.

In any case, I’m pretty happy with the results so far.

None of the settings of this photo were manipulated in any way, this is what the sunset looks like through the pollution out here in southern California.

Boats in the Harbor

Shortly after getting my new camera, I decided to take a walk down by Long Beach harbor. I was walking along the water and stopped in a spot that had a pretty good view of Shoreline Village.
